Cloak (Aronui)

CULT Polynesian: Maori New Zealand Polynesia This cloak is rectangular with cut edges and ends of weft on either side. It has a single weave with a decorative edge finished with fine brown rolled cord.
The cloak is listed in the Robertson catalogue as 'William Hunter from Captain Cook' on unknown evidence. It may be one of several 'Flaxen mantles mentioned in Captain Laskey's 1813 account.
