none MANU Unsigned. late 19th century DES after MAYER,Sigmund. after 1859 DES after SCOTT,E.,Leon. 1859 DES DELPHINE. 1891 This is a version of the flame manometer and was used for measuring pulse-rate. The latex membrane of the tambour was placed against a convienient artery, and the expansion and contraction of the blood vessel was then tranferred by a rubber tube to a gas flame which 'bounced' in time to the pulse. The latex was sealed to the tambour with Chatterton's compound.
