Memorial ring of Thomas Campbell, Poet and Journalist (1777-1844). Rector of the University of Glasgow in 1827, 1828 and 1829.

Engraved within "Thomas Campbell, June 1844" on outside "IN MEMORY OF" Thomas Campbell was born in Glasgow on 27th July 1777. His father, a wealthy tobacco trader, was financially ruined when the American colonies seceded. Campbell studied at the University of Glasgow.
