CRE MACKINTOSH, Charles Rennie; (Scottish; 1868-1928) Abbot's Grange was not an alms-house but a 14th-century manor house built by the monks of Pershore Abbey, with Elizabethan alterations. When Mackintosh visited, it was owned by the American painter Frank Millet who was the centre of the first artists' colony in Broadway. See also 53011/13.
