beryl (var. aquamarine); etched, transparent and colour-zoned crystal

Co. Wicklow, [Eire] unknown Very fine for Irish beryl. From the collection of Thomas Brown of Lanfine, and probably acquired before 1835. Formerly shared the Hunterian number M2640 with another very similar crystal which bears the Lanfine number 69 and which is given as coming from Co. Wicklow. Both are almost certainly actually from the Mourne Mountains. Brown does not record how he got this spec…
