Slave workers liberated.
Slave workers joyfully collect their belongings before evacuation to the rear areas in the town of Altenkirchen, 20 miles east of the Rhine, wich was cleared March 27, 1945, by troops of the First U.S. Army. The surrounding buildings show the devastation wrought by Allied air and aetillary bombardments.
