Special mass in Cherbourg Cathedral on Bastille Day.
American and French flags decorate the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Voeux in Cherbourg during the celebration of Bastille Day July 14, 1944, in the first observance of the holiday in four years following the liberation of the French port by U.S. forces. A Solemn Mass was celebrated in honor of those who died to free the city.
