British immigrant in Canadian Home Guard

My grandfather Frederick wanted to serve his country, and being a recent British immigrant, he signed up for the Canadian Army in World War One. Because of his age, he was to serve in the Home Guard instead, staying in Canada and was never sent overseas.

His brother Charles (my great-uncle) also enlisted in the Canadian Army, in the Overseas Expeditionary Force. He would see action in Belgium…
