Edward Lear, who described himself as a “Painter of Poetical Topography,” spent most of his life traveling and painting landscapes. He lived in Rome, Corfu, Cannes, and San Remo and traveled in Italy, Sicily, Greece, Turkey, Malta, Egypt, India, Ceylon, and Palestine.
