The Centaurea sphaerocephalais a perennial plant, similar to a thistle. The hairy leaves can exhibit various forms. The flowers (in chapter) are large, showy, tubular and pinkish-purple. This plant produces a fruit with a seed called cypsela and is dispersed by wind or animals.
