Però, quan s'acosten a la paret, els turistes troben murs encrostonats per la pluja i la contaminació; restes de formigó, i firmes de vàndals sobre els murals. Ni tan sols el fraternal petó entre Brèjnev i Honecker, una de les imatges més conegudes del mur, s'ha salvat del deteriorament.; The longest standing stretch of the Berlin Wall is a little over one kilometer long and is visited by thousands of tourists each year. Many of them go there to see the murals painted on the wall since the ‘Fall’. But when they get approach the wall, they see that the murals are peeling off due to rain and pollution. Not even the fraternal kiss between Breznev and Honecker, one of the wall’s most popular images, has withstood the deterioration.
