Description: The painting depicts the Annunciation scene, with the Virgin Mary looking piously downwards and placing her hand on her chest in a gesture of humility, while holding an open prayer book in her other hand. The angel Gabriel floating in the air, suspended between heaven and earth, pointing up toward the light of the Holy Spirit, which fills the room with divine illuminationto tells Mary that she will bear the son of God. Little angels and angel heads with wings fill the room. Most probably the painting was a sketch or 'bozzetto' for a large altarpiece and it is clearly Venitian in inspiration.; Repository/Location: National Museum of Fine Arts (Valletta, Malta)
