Madrid Ms. II, 76v. - Cost estimate for building the Pistoia Canal and expedients for making its bed impermeable with mud and by the trampling feet of herds of animals, c. 1504. Cf. also folio 15A-22v in the Codex Leicester, where Leonardo returns to the idea of using "large animals" to facilitate the fording of rivers.
