Great Uncle: William J Connolly
William J Connolly
Death Plaque for Serjt. William Connolly Royal Dublin Fusiliers Service No: 10872. Scroll for Serjt. William Connolly Royal Dublin Fusiliers Service No: 10872. Medals For Serjt. William Connolly & Pte. James Connolly.
William J Connolly was my Great Uncle on my Grandmothers side. He was with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and was killed in action on 3rd September 1915 age 25 years. I went to find his grave in France it is in an extremely well kept grave yard called TROIS ARBRES CEMETERY in a village called STEENWERCK close to the Belgian border. I am not sure if any other relative has visited his grave and I felt privileged to do so. His Brother James Connolly also served with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers as one of the campaign medals has his name incribed on it. I can only assume that James survived the war as I found no referance to him on the War Graves Commission website.
