There are three items: a warrant appointment for my great grandfather Thomas Egan, a discharge paper for his son also Thomas Egan and a photograph of Thomas (senior) with two other men in miliitary gear. My Great Grandfather was a battery serjeant in the Royal Garrison Artillery and was commissioned in 1915. The warant is marked temporary as he was retired but was re-listed. His son, also Thomas was honourably discharged after being injured in 1919. Thomas Junior was in the 3rd Hussars (cavalry). Thomas junior had a brother called Gerald who was my grandfather. His eldest son Arthur J Simpson was my father. Both my father's grand parents were in the army as Gerad married Annie Egan -she was born in Birr Offfaly as her father was stationed there - she then moved to India until she was about thriteen - Both my grandfathers Thomas Simpson and ??Egan fougt in the Somme. it is not known if Thomas Junior was at the Somme with his father.
