Collection of Terence Kevin Mc Cann, POW
Terence McCann: Prisoner of War
I have some postcards containing poems and songs written during the years 1914 - 1918. I also have some photographs - one of my father posing with his comrades and one taken when he enlisted for the Connaught Rangers. There is also a group photograph, I am not sure where it was taken, possibily in the barracks in Aldershot. Terence Kevin McCann is the 5th person from the left on the second row.
My father Terence Kevin Mc Cann joined the Connaught Rangers. When this was disbanded he joined another regiment, but I don't know which one. During 1914 - 1918, he was a prisoner of war and was working on a farm during this period which meant that he had access to food. When he came back to Dublin, he worked in the grocery trade, but I know very little about his war time experience as he rarely talked about it.
