Parasol with woven motif of flowers and butterflies | anoniem
Parasol met ingeweven bloemen en vlinders
At the end of this parasol’s wooden stick is a silver and turquoise crook. Both the mineral and the derived colour turquoise were often used in Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) designs, which were in vogue in Europe between c. 1890 and 1914. The sinuous lines of the silver thread culminating in the turquoise flowers are typical of the genre.
