    • Joseph 'Joe' Boyle was my uncle, the first son of a Naas town clerk of the same name. He entered active service on the 27th of December 1914. He served in the Balkans theatre of operations. He was a Private in the Connaught Rangers initially, and later a Pioneer in the Royal Engineers. He returned to Ireland in 1918. He received a Victory Medal.
