and Sergeant Patrick Finegan

Description

    • 1914-1915 Star of Private John Weldon Research into Sergeant Patrick Finegan
    • I bought this medal out of curiosity and researched it. It belonged to John Weldon, a private in the Royal Irish Rifles, 16th Irish Division. 7/4563, 6/21292. I went to Glasnevin Cemetery in Dublin, Ireland and emailed the curator. I was told John Weldon survived the War. Catherine Watson, who is writing a book on people from Edenderry in the War also thinks he survived. It's unknown what the date on the medal's sleeve (France 22/12/15) refers to. I am also including research conducted on Sergeant Patrick Finegan, a 3rd cousin of mine.
