Title

A photograph of a British soldier's family of six

A christening

Description

    • A photograph of a British soldier's family of six
    • There is no text, be it handwritten or printed, on the back or front of this photographic postcard to tell us in which photographer’s studio the family of six pictured posed, or who they are. The baby’s long white gown is, however, an easily read clue, signalling that the photograph was almost certainly taken to mark his or her christening. The soldier–father of the family wears a bandolier and appears to have a single chevron on his upper left sleeve, the rank indicator of a lance corporal.
