Starting on 10 February, the Kunsthal in Rotterdam will present the exhibition "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier - From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk". Collaborating with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and Maison Jean Paul Gaultier, the Kunsthal explores 35 years of the designer's work. His ouvre is characterised by outside-of-the-box designs in which he provocatively crosses borders of gender and (sub)-cultures. He effortlessly pulls inspiration from the worlds of sailors, punk, Glam Rock en grafitti. The exhibition includes 140 objects from both his couture and ready-to-wear collections, many that have never been exhibited before, including loans by Madonna and Pedro Almodovar and other objects that highlight his work with actors, artists and photographers.
