Charles Goodyear (1800-1860)
Giorgio Nebbia ripercorre la storia di Charles Goodyear (1800-1860) che dedicò la sua vita, trascorsa fino alla fine in misere condizioni economiche, al perfezionamento della gomma. Nel 1939 scoprì la gomma "vulcanizzata" : miscelando gomma e zolzo ottenne un materiale ancora elastico, facilmente lavorabile e, a differenza della gomma grezza, resistente al caldo e al freddo.
